Through this summit, President Lee Jae-myung presented Korea’s unique solution to resolve the ‘development gap’ and ‘technology inequality’, which are chronic problems in the international community. Currently, the international community is facing a serious resource imbalance in which official development assistance (ODA) resources cannot keep up with the explosive demand from recipient countries. Accordingly, President Lee strongly argued that donor and recipient countries should move beyond the simple relationship of exchanging support and establish a new partnership model that induces private investment and promotes economic independence. This is significant in that it proposes a practical and sustainable development plan based on Korea's experience of growing from a former aid recipient to a proud contributor to the international community.

President Lee's actions also stood out in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), a key topic in the era of technological hegemony. Wary of the phenomenon in which the technological gap between countries will soon become entrenched in the economic gap between rich and poor, President Lee shared his ambitious vision of building a ‘global AI basic society.’ Going beyond simply showing off technological prowess, we proposed a ‘global AI hub’ that would lay the foundation for all humanity to enjoy the benefits of AI equally and jointly solve difficult problems such as the climate crisis, health, and food issues. This vision is interpreted as an expression of Korea's strong will to establish the norms of the future digital order and take the lead in returning the benefits of technology to universal human values.

The atmosphere inside and outside the summit hall was full of more tense and sophisticated diplomatic maneuvers than ever before. In particular, the short but intense 30-second face-to-face meeting with US President Donald Trump was enough to capture all the cameras on site. Although the details of whether a bilateral meeting will take place are still being negotiated, the brief greetings and pleasantries between the leaders serve as a foundation for solidifying Korea's position on the multilateral diplomatic stage. In addition, the close greetings and conversation I had with French President Macron proved that the relationship of trust between the two countries that has continued since my last visit to Korea has become more solid, and made me realize that Korea's diplomatic horizons toward Europe have expanded further.

Another strategic value of attending the G7 is the diversification of Korea's diplomacy and strengthening its status. Invitation for two consecutive years is proof that Korea is no longer recognized as a peripheral country, but as an ‘irreplaceable partner’ essential to resolving international issues. The Blue House's efforts to catch both security and economy can be seen through bilateral diplomacy that takes care of economic benefits, such as Canada's submarine order, as well as extensive exchanges with key leaders of the United States, Japan, and Europe. With the possibility of attending the G7 Summit in the United States next year, Korea is expected to further expand its role as a global pivotal country and continue its leadership in leading solidarity in the international community.
